Anna Turley Secures Public Health Funding Boost in Redcar & Cleveland

For far too long, 14 years of Tory neglect left our communities underfunded and our public health services struggling. Under those administrations, cuts and austerity meant that frontline services were continuously compromised, leaving families and individuals without the essential support they needed. Again, Labour is turning the page.

Under the bold vision of the 2024 Labour manifesto, the government’s Plan for Change is delivering a nearly £200M boost to local public health services nationwide. This historic investment marks the largest real-terms increase in public health funding in almost a decade, reversing years of underinvestment.

What This Means for Our Community

In Redcar & Cleveland, we will receive an allocation of £13,482,394. This funding isn’t just a number - it represents a commitment to transforming our health services. By shifting the focus from hospitals to community-based, preventative care, we’re investing in:

• Family and School Nurses: Ensuring our children and families receive personalised care close to home.

• Sexual Health Clinics: Providing accessible, confidential services to safeguard our community’s well-being.

• Prevention Programmes: Including smoking cessation, addiction recovery support, and local health protection services.

Now, we’re prioritising the health and well-being of every resident. By investing in prevention and community care, we’re laying the foundation for a sustainable, future-ready NHS that genuinely works for everyone.

This is a turning point a moment when we say goodbye to neglect and welcome an era of proactive, compassionate public health. I am proud to be at the forefront of this change, ensuring that our community not only recovers but thrives. I look forward to sharing more updates as we roll out these essential services across Redcar & Cleveland.
