Sinkhole Update: Eston Recreation Ground

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council has issued an important update regarding the sinkhole on Eston Recreation Ground.

For your safety, please avoid the area where the sinkhole has appeared. The council is consulting with experts, including geologists, to determine the cause and assess how the area can be made safe again.

A full survey of the site will be conducted, but it is believed that the sinkhole has formed at the location of a borehole from the old mining works.
