New Deal For Working People

For far too long, low pay and insecure work have held people back, with workers – the beating heart of our country and economy – too often treated as an afterthought. But that changes now!

This Labour Government has delivered on its promise, bringing forward the Employment Rights Bill within our first 100 days in office. We’re updating the UK’s outdated employment laws to end exploitative zero-hours contracts, fire and rehire practices, and giving millions of workers ‘day one’ rights on paternity, parental, and bereavement leave.

But we’re not stopping there – by strengthening statutory sick pay and making flexible working the default, we’ll raise the floor on workplace rights, making sure that work truly pays and helping keep people in jobs longer. This is about fairer conditions for employees and lower costs for employers, through better staff retention and fewer disruptions.

With Labour, workers and businesses working together, we’ll create a stronger, fairer, and more secure future for everyone. This is a game-changing step towards an economy that works for all!
