🌟🚀 Launch of the Tees Valley Multibank 🚀🌟

The multibank model is truly inspiring, and seeing it launched here today, already making a difference for so many families, is heart warming. This initiative is designed to support families across Redcar & Cleveland and all of Teesside by diverting essential items from landfill to those who need them most. Working with major companies like Amazon, the project will provide crucial resources to local families and children experiencing poverty.

Today, we were honoured to welcome Gordon Brown, who officially opened the Tees Valley Multibank. Gordon’s leadership in championing the multibank model across the UK laid the groundwork for this initiative, and it’s an incredible achievement to bring his vision to life here in Teesside.

I wrote to him back in 2022 to ask him if he would consider making Teesside one of his chosen areas for this pilot and I’m delighted to see this vision became a reality today! 💼🌍

Since the soft launch in October, the multibank has already distributed 44,000 items, benefiting over 19,000 families across the area. With a dedicated warehouse, it’s set to expand further, providing even more resources to the community and neighbouring boroughs. 📦🤝

A huge thank you to Beth and the team at The Junction, who have worked tirelessly as the project’s delivery agents, and to Councillor John McCue, whose leadership from the start has been essential in making this vision a reality. Additionally, thank you to all the local businesses who have partnered with The Junction to help bring this service to life. And finally, a special thank you to the councils across our region—Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, and Darlington—whose collaboration has been vital in making this project possible. 🙌🌈

📢 If there are any community groups or charities that would like access to the multibank to support residents, please get in touch! 📞
