Labour is wasting no time in rolling out free breakfast clubs in primary schools ā making life easier for families and giving every child the best start to their day. šš„£
I am thrilled to announce that Overfields Primary and New Marske Primary in Redcar and Cleveland are among the first schools to benefit from this initiative!
Through our Childrenās Wellbeing & Schools Bill, weāre committed to cutting the cost of sending children to school by providing:
ā Free breakfast clubs to ensure children start the day ready to learn, boosting attendance and attainment.
ā A cap on branded school uniform items, helping families save on essential costs.
Today, the Labour government announced the first 750 schools to offer these new free breakfast clubs. By tripling investment, weāre safeguarding key education priorities and helping parents with valuable childcare options at the start of the day. This initiative is expected to save families an estimated Ā£450 a year.
Under the Tories, breakfast clubs were available in just one in ten primary schools across England. Labour is determined to make them available for all our children.
Weāre committed to breaking down barriers to opportunity and giving every child the best start in life, regardless of their background. Our vision is simple ā where youāre from shouldnāt determine where you end up.
