I’m absolutely delighted to announce that Redcar and Cleveland will be receiving £1,000,000 as part of the government’s new Start for Life programme. This investment will help families with babies, from pregnancy to age two, get the support they need to give their children the very best start in life.
This funding is part of a wider £57 million package aimed at improving services for families across the country, alongside an additional £69 million for family hubs. It’s a huge step forward in tackling deprivation and ensuring that the most vulnerable families get the support they deserve.
Alec Brown, Leader of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, said:
“I am thrilled that Redcar and Cleveland will benefit from this funding for Start for Life services. These services have already shown their value, offering expert advice on infant feeding, parenting support, and perinatal mental health. This new investment means we can build on that success, reach more families, and make sure every child has the opportunity to thrive."
Luke Myer, MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland said:
"I'm delighted that we've secured this funding, which will make a real difference to families in East Cleveland. Every child deserves the best start in life. This is the difference that Labour in power can make."
I’m looking forward to working closely with Alec and Luke, to ensure we make the most of this investment and continue building on the success of these vital services for families in our area.
This funding is a game-changer for our community, after years of cuts to our services, this Labour Government is delivering real investment to make sure our children get the best start in life, I’m excited about the difference it will make for families across Redcar and Cleveland.
