Ending the Tory Sewage Crisis.

One of my promises to you during the election campaign was to end the disgraceful behaviour of water companies and their bosses .

As someone who is lucky enough to live by the sea here in Redcar and Cleveland I’ve made it my personal mission to campaign on this issue, so we can all enjoy going for a dip on our coastline again without the worry of swimming in sewage and the health problems that can cause.

I am proud Labour is taking action by introducing landmark legislation to crack down on the companies polluting our precious waterways and hold the bosses accountable.

Labour are delivering:

Tougher penalties for water company executives, including up to 2 years in prison for failing to cooperate with investigations.

No more bonuses for bosses who fail to protect the environment and customers.

Automatic fines for water companies that pollute, with quicker action from regulators.

Real-time sewage spill data made public within an hour of an overflow.

14 years of Conservative Government has led to raw toxic sewage being pumped into our beautiful coastline of Redcar, Marske and Saltburn. Under this Labour Government, water executives will no longer line their own pockets whilst pumping out filth. If they refuse to comply, they could end up in the dock and face prison time.

That is the difference Labour is making in Government.
